Learning UX

UX, user experience design, is what creates a successful website. Designing with the target user in mind creates positive experiences that make using the website intuitive. Common deliverables in the UX process, like user personas, user flow, and wireframing, are necessary to keep the intended users needs in mind. Through these deliverables you can test and edit, especially when designing the medium- or high-fidelity wireframe and ultimately the prototype design. These steps give the designer insight into the tests and tribulations of how the users will feel and experience the site or app.

Reflecting on my client’s blog design, I see the importance of researching and prototyping. I would have benefited from creating a high-fidelity wireframe and a prototype. To place everything in a clickable format would allow me to notice it looked visually appealing and flowed. Allowing me to edit and adapt. On a personal note, I am creating a site map and style tile for my personal art website that is so overloaded with content I couldn’t fully group. My brain loves that I can dump out all the content first and then work on how they click and flow into each other. I love that I compartmentalize the color palette and not work on everything at the same time. I really needed this process to be able to finally execute my own site.
